About Ken Muir

Ken Muir began a career in commercial fruit growing in 1948 at the age of 22, having been interested in the subject since his schoolboy days. In 1965, he set up the mail order company with the purpose of supplying the best and most up-to-date varieties to the gardening enthusiast. Today the company offers a large selection of newer fruit varieties together with more unusual fruits but have also remained loyal to many good old favourites, still worthy of a place in the British Garden. Many varieties have the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

Ken Muir has exhibited strawberry plants at the Chelsea Flower Show since 1970, and has now accumulated over 30 medals including 13 Gold Medals in 1980, 1988, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007 & 2008.

Ken Muir has now become one of the largest mail order suppliers of top fruits and soft fruits in the U.K. All our fruit stocks are certified by The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) so you can always be confident that our fruit stocks are of the highest quality. and with an ongoing after sales advisory service you can be sure of success.

We recognise the importance of providing cultural instructions in a clear and concise manner that can be understood by even the inexperienced person who has never grown fruit before. All plant orders are supplied with cultural instructions but we have also produced a 194 page full colour handbook Grow Your Own Fruit' which is discounted with any tree, cane or vine order. (Customers ordering strawberry plants will receive a free copy of Grow Your Own Strawberries' booklet).

We are so confident of our quality that we offer a 6 month guarantee on all fruit stocks. This means in the event of a plant dying within the guarantee period, a free replacement will be sent. Please see our Terms of Business.

Ken Muir himself is now semi-retired, however it is still very much a family affair as the company is run by his son, Roger Muir and his daughters Susan Muir and Amanda Richardson.
