With over 50 years experience, we at Ken Muir pride ourselves on providing only the highest quality fruit trees, soft fruits, canes and vines. Our reputation has been built on this, plus our desire to pass on our knowledge and expertise on this rewarding subject, to help even the most novice of gardeners to succeed. Our friendly staff will only be too happy to try and answer any of your fruit growing questions and when you have made a purchase from us, our level of care does not finish there, as we have a free after-sales advisory service, so we are at hand to answer any queries and give advice when needed.
All of our fruit stocks are certified by The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) so you can be assured that they are of the highest standard and we are so confident of their quality that all of our fruit trees, bushes and vines along with our vegetable and hedging range are covered by a six month guarantee. This means in the event of a plant dying within the guarantee period, a free replacement will be sent. Please see our Terms of Business.
We recognise the importance of providing cultural instructions in a clear and concise manner, that can be understood by even an inexperienced person who has never grown fruit before. All plant orders are supplied with cultural instructions but we have also produced a 194 page full colour handbook 'Grow Your Own Fruit' which is FREE with your first tree, cane or vine order over £30.00. (Customers ordering strawberry plants will instead receive a free copy of the 'Grow Your Own Strawberries' booklet).
Roger Muir with Alan Titchmarsh at Chelsea Flower Show
Ken Muir has exhibited strawberry plants at the Chelsea Flower Show since 1970, and has now accumulated over 31 medals including 13 Gold Medals in 1980, 1988, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007 & 2008.
Ken Muir began his career in commercial fruit growing in 1948 at the age of 22, having been interested in the subject since his schoolboy days. In 1965, he set up his mail order company with the purpose of supplying the best and most up-to-date varieties to the gardening enthusiast. His contribution to the 'grow your own' fraternity was recognised and celebrated when he was awarded the Life Time Achievement award by the Garden Media Guild in 2007.
Ken Muir, known affectionately as KM to all of us who knew him, sadly passed away in June 2011, but his passion for fruit growing and his desire to pass on his knowledge to inspire future generations of fruit enthusiasts will live on through his book 'Grow Your Own Fruit' for which he was so proud.
The business will continue to be run by his family who share his love and enthusiasm for fruit growing.
