Bilberries
Belonging to the same family as blueberries, cranberries, and lingonberries, the bilberry has small, but full flavoured soft juicy fruit with dark blue skin and purple flesh. These fruits can be eaten fresh, or made into delicious deserts jams and juices
Like it’s relatives it enjoys poor acid soils found in the regions of the world where it grows wild, and if grown in containers, ericaceous compost must be used.
