Phyllostachys nigra (Dwarf Black Bamboo)

Originating from China, this beautiful bamboo grows new green culms (canes) which darken to ebony-black when exposed to the sun. The leaves are dark green and shiny. Prefers a sheltered spot and for best colour should be planted in a sunny position. Can withstand temperatures down to -18C (0F). It is interesting to plant this bamboo with other yellow or green culm bamboos. Plants are supplied approximately 2-3ft on despatch. Max. ht: 9ft.
