Cherry Plum 'Countess'
This mouth-watering cherry plum produces wonderfully sweet, dark reddish-purple fruits which are extremely juicy, with a fine melting yellowish-red flesh and an excellent plummy flavour. Delicious eaten fresh, but also superb for cooking and jam making it is highly versatile. This variety was bred in Ukraine so is extremely cold hardy and therefore suitable for growing nationwide. Partially self-fertile.
Cherry Plum trees are grafted on a St Julian ‘A’ rootstock and will reach an eventual height of 3.5-4.5m (12-15ft). Trees should be planted 3.5-4.5m (12-15ft) apart.
