Small enough to be grown in a container on the patio, these very hardy dwarf rhododendron hybrids are derived from the species ‘Yakushimanum’ which can be found growing wild on the windswept, rain drenched mountain peaks of Yakushima Island, Japan. The colours of their flowers range from delicate pastels to bright reds and pinks, set against beautiful evergreen foliage and can be used to create the most gorgeous effect in the garden during the late spring and early summer.
These new hybrid varieties will tolerate anything from full shade to full sun and exposure to the elements. Their one requirement is that they are grown in lime-free soil. If this is not possible, then why not grow them in a container using an ericaceous compost? |
