Hops

Hops can be cultivated very easily in the garden. They produces attractive foliage and dainty flowers in July. An abundance of splendid traditional hop cones are then borne in the late summer and autumn. These turn an attractive golden-bronze colour in the autumn and are not only popular when dried for rustic interior decoration but are suitable for flavouring all types of home-brewed ales and lagers. Hops will grow well on almost any type of well drained soil and are very easy to cultivate.
