The Mountain Ash is extraordinary for its diversity of colour throughout the year. They are spectacular whilst in fruit, producing clusters of berries in the late summer that range from bright red, pink and orange through to yellow and white. The berries often remain on the trees well into the late autumn or even winter. They have pinnate leaves with numerous leaflets that present a delightful, fern-like effect, all the time they are in leaf. In the autumn the leaves turn to shades of red and fiery orange. Sorbus should be planted in moist, acid soil in full sun or partial shade.
