Cranberries
Cranberries add a tangy flavour to everything from stuffing and sauces to drinks and barbecues. They are a good source of Vitamin C too. The berries are ready for picking from late September in the south of England to mid-October in Scotland. The cranberry is a creeping, evergreen, peat-loving prostrate shrub. They grow naturally in peat bogs. It is possible to imitate these conditions in the garden and once a raised or sunken bed is established it requires very little attention.
Available all year round.
