Awarded silver in the trees and conifers Category at the HTA National Plant Show Awards 2019, this exciting new introduction is a cross between an apricot and a cherry, with a size and flavour that lies somewhere between the two, but with a wonderful cherry like aroma.    'Aprikyra®' is self-fertile and produces delicious, round, dark purplish-red fruits, that ripen from late July and are suitable for cooking as well as eating fresh.   In spring the trees are covered in attractive, pure white blossoms which appear just after most apricots have flowered.  The trees can be grown outside in a sunny, sheltered position, or against a wall in the south and south-east, but in cooler areas or further north they are best grown under glass in a cold greenhouse.

Cherrycot trees are grafted on a St Julian ‘A’ rootstock and will reach an eventual height of 3.5-4.5m (12-15ft). Trees should be planted 3.5-4.5m (12-15ft) apart.

Cherrycot trees are supplied bare-rooted and are available for delivery from late November until late March.

Please remember that fruit trees do require staking for the first few years of their life, we also strongly recommend the use of rootgrow™ when planting to encourage strong root growth and aid establishment.

Tree stakes, rootgrow™ and fruit tree feed can be found by clicking on the 'related products' tab above.
