There is a fascinating history to this Black Mulberry. It is actually derived from a tree that existed in Swan Walk - now known as the Chelsea Physic Garden - in the early 17th Century, during the reign of King James I. During the 1939/45 war the last remaining tree was grubbed to make way for an air raid shelter but cuttings were taken thereby ensuring that this 'royal' tree lived on for future generations. The fruit is unusually large and succulent, cropping early in its life. The flavour is intensely rich and second to none.  Ripens during August.  A mature tree will reach 20-30ft, but can be contained considerably in a Root Control Bag (available separately).

Available for delivery from late November until late March.

Please note - We strongly recommend the use of rootgrow™ when planting to encourage strong root growth and aid establishment.
